Passionate Industrial Engineer in Electronic Manufacturing Services

Role overview:

C-MAC is seeking an experienced, hands-on Industrial Engineer (IE) to be responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, layouts, and workflows at our manufacturing locations and across our production lines. The IE will lead initiatives to improve yield, throughput, cost, and quality, while supporting the introduction of new products, technologies, and automation. You will act as a key technical partner to Production/Logistics, Quality, and Supply Chain, as well as serve as a coach and mentor to junior engineers.

 

The IE plays a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, ensuring consistent execution, and supporting profitable growth while meeting the demanding quality, reliability, and delivery expectations of C-MAC’s customers.

 

This position is based in Ronse (Belgium) and requires regular travel to international manufacturing sites.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyze, design, and continuously improve manufacturing processes across fabrication and assembly and final inspection -> value stream analysis.
  • Lead time studies, capacity analyses, line balancing, and bottleneck analyses to maximize throughput and OEE.
  • Design and implement cell and plant layouts using Lean principles (value stream mapping, 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, etc.).
  • Define standard work, work instructions, cycle times, and labor standards; maintain and update routings and BOMs in the ERP/MES system.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through scrap reduction, yield improvement, low-cost-automation, and process simplification.
  • Support new product introduction and design-for-manufacturing reviews with R&D and customers.
  • Use data analytics, SPC, and Six Sigma methodologies (DMAIC) to investigate root causes and drive sustainable improvements.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Process Engineering to ensure compliance with compliance standards and customer-specific requirements (IATF 16949, ISO 13485, AS9100 as applicable).

Your Profile:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Demonstrated success in driving operational excellence, Lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple sites with minimum 5 years of industrial / manufacturing engineering experience in an electronics, semiconductor, or EMS manufacturing environment, including at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Lean & Six Sigma: Demonstrated track record applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green Belt minimum; Black Belt preferred), and structured problem-solving (8D, A3, DMAIC).
  • Analytics: Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel advanced, Minitab, Power BI, or similar) and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Communication: Fluent English (written and spoken); strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects, mentor junior engineers, and drive change in a manufacturing environment as well as leading international and culturally diverse teams.
